A new life for Stradivari’s house
It opened again on the 4th of July, the house of Antonnio Stradivari.
It is a symbolic place for Cremona, which was restored thanks to a project of the Foundation Casa Stradivari. The house was re-opened on the 4 th of July, the same day when, in 1667, Antonio Stradivari and his wife Francesca Ferraboschi entered the building in Corso Garibaldi establishing here his first violin-making workshop.
The violin-making art is the center of the activities of the Foundation chaired by Antonio Gambardella and supported by Cremona’s Municipality and the Violin’s Museum. The house will organize several activities like a high-level course to make string instruments. This space will also be open to some musicians and artists.
The project is part of the Safeguarding Plan of Cremona’s violin-making tradition, included in the list of UNESCO intangible heritage. The place, moreover, will be the seat of some cultural initiatives and it will foster the town’s cultural life.
