Chiesa di Sant'Imerio
Formerly the church of the adjacent convent of the Discalced Carmelites, which was established in the city in 1606 thanks to the noble Vidoni family, until 1805 when the convent was suppressed and most of it demolished, while the church, built between 1606 and 1612 to a design by Francesco Bigallo, known as Fontanella, became a parish church.
Beyond the rustic façade, the interior preserves an important series of 17th-century paintings, including the Visione di Sant’Antonio da Padova by Giovanni Battista Natali, signed and dated 1654, on the first altar on the right, Riposo durante la fuga in Egitto, a masterpiece by Luigi Miradori, known as Il Genovesino, from 1651, and on the third altar on the left, a work by Angelo Massarotti from around 1688, Santa Teresa d'Avila intercede presso la Madonna per salvare Cremona dall'assedio, an episode from the Thirty Years' War in which the city is depicted below with vivid realism.
