Metti una sera d’estate – 2024
CRART - Cremona Arte e Turismo
For summer 2024 the program was designed to discover extraordinary sacred buildings... in the dark and otherwise, like the church dedicated to Peter or the one named after the city's patron saint, delve into the old hospital district, accompany you through history and art of the ancient convent of Santa Monica now a university building and observe the fascinating Romanesque style from an unusual but very suggestive point of view.
Some events enjoy the patronage of the Diocese of Cremona and the collaboration of Cremona sotterranea.
June 29, Piazza San Pietro
The church of San Pietro al Po
Since its origins in the 11th century, the appearance of the structure has changed considerably from the Benedictines to the Lateranians, those who laid the architectural and decorative foundations for the current church. Among these, the figure of Abbot Colombino Rapari stands out, whose story allows us to understand that the choices of architectural and iconographic style are not random but to be inserted in a context in which the Church had to compare itself with the reformed churches. The historical context that directs the artistic choices therefore becomes the starting point for analyzing the works of Bernardino Gatti, Antonio Campi, Giovan Battista Trotti and many others…
Meeting at 9.00 pm in front of the church of San Pietro. €12 – €10 CrArT members
6 July, Piazza Sant'Omobono
The church of Sant'Omobono... in the dark and the icebox
With the patronage of the Diocese of Cremona on Saturday 6 July we will visit the church initially dedicated to Sant'Egidio and then dedicated to the patron saint Sant'Omobono. The sacred building rich in works of art that celebrate the greatness of the Cremonese patron saint, allows you to discover artistic testimonies ranging from the 15th to the 18th century.
The visit will take place in the dark mode... we start with an introduction into the illuminated church, then the lights will be turned off and the works of art will gradually be illuminated.
At the end of the visit to the sacred building you will also visit the ice house attached to the structure in collaboration with Cremona Sotterranea aps.
We advise you to bring flashlights..
